DARE

Yesterday my sister came home ecstatic about DARE.  Which is a program to help kids know the facts about drugs.  We have all gone through it.  But I was thinking.  What point in time does the will power of little middle-schoolers die out?  When is that moment when they give in and try drugs?
I know all schools have a problem with drugs, but I just wish that doing drugs wasn't cool. Why does that sweet spirit of "Just Say NO" vanish from the adolescent mind? I have a hunch that it is peer pressure that sparks the new thoughts.
The real question is, when did the drug use actually start?  Because, if there was some way to stop the terrible addiction, thousands upon thousands of lives could be spared by a simple action of saying no.  I hope someday that kids will stand up for what the right is and soon, drugs and alcohol will be "not in". Because in reality, they will get you nowhere in life.  Take the 5th grader challenge today, and dare to resist the temptation of not only drugs, but peer pressure.

Love,
ehemm.
